First Blog

Hi, first blog! My other was an "About me Section" bummer, you would think that after having an online journal I would have an idea of how this whole thing works.... I am a person who is open to all kinds of music the oldest the music the better, the newest the music the most entertaining. I hate labeling myself as anything and I think my name is enough of a label. I love reading and writing, writing is the only way I feel I can warn people about things that are going around the world, in one perfect sentence. And you might all soon notice I HATE being confused, the ironic thing is I hate being told what to do but love being told exactly what to write
The topic I will be blogging about is the rhetoric of gender. When I saw this I knew certainly what my first blog would be about, equality and informative. When referring to this topic I'm going to try to add a lot of cultural beliefs on how a certain culture expects a woman to talk versus a man. As well, as to what society expects from the speech and language of a man versus a women. I chose this topic not because Im a feminist but certainly because there is a lot of discrimination put into women about the way they should present themselves into society and language is certainly something that everyone notices.
One of the goals that I have for this class is to be able to manage and sort out my thoughts into an essay.Sometimes I have so many good ideas that I just write them everywhere in my paper, in hope of not loosing a good point. I want to manage my ideas and express more of a fact in a paper than an opinion.I see writing as something fun and when Im given a topic that is not of my interest I tend to do my worst job. I never give my 100%, or so I 've been told by my teachers, because apparently I try to keep a tough look and "act stupid" so my goal for this class is to give it my 100% and show it as well.

Dear Jennifer,
I have read your welcome post and I am very impressed. Through your writing I could actually grasp a little bit of your identity. I could actually understand you and feel the way you do. I was also impressed that girls like you want to have a better future and not just a stereotype of the latino race. I hereby tell you to strive to success and overcome every obstacle because that is the key to success.

Dear Jennifer,
I am interested in finding out hows it is that society expects for women to act and speak versus a man. It is really cruel that women seem to be treated less and not important, but on top of this they are controlled. What do you think and feel towards this? Do you want to do something about it? Have you ever felt or gone through something like this? Have you found any information yet? or Do you have any information that you know already? I think you chose the right topic because it seems that you have a lot to say about it.

Jennifer,
I have though of that also. Yes, they were powerful speeches, especially if they were able to convince millions of people to take their sides and join them. Aside from that I think that you are more than fit to write the blog you have. You have the... well I don't know how to describe it really, it is I guess a struggle for equality amongst men and women. I would like to see what you have to say about how men and women talk in society, about each other and with each other.

Dear Jennifer,
Reading your blog makes me learn a little bit about you and the same as you are i hate to be told on what to do but sometimes we just get use to it. Anyways I think this topic fits for you because it seems like you have a lot to say about it. Maybe in your topic you could also talk about the differences or the disadvantages and advantages in both genders. We had a topic like this last year on mock trials so i think you could also work it out like that. Anyways its just a suggestion and i would like to see what your opinion are in this topic.

Dear Jennifer,
I felt the same way starting this blog as well, but you know how to manage your words and out them together and it becomes a good introduction. In this world there is a lot of discriminations on woman; but I also think as if a woman wants equality and wants to be treated the same as a man then we will get treated rough, and expect to achieve in the ways they do; maybe I’m just confused or I’m unclear in my thoughts, buts that’s what I think. Woman have struggles for a long time to get where they are today, but many woman throw away this great opportunity we have and makes a choice that well it has a cost(as I learned in Economics). Even though many woman are going to try to get equality just by6 one person choosing the other path, your statement would go in downfall.
Sincerely,
Masyeli M.

Well your introduction is perfect. I like your introduction because it talk about how you and your topic relate yo.You are the right fitted person for this topic because you are the same way.I like that you mentioned that you dont like labels and how your name is an enough label.Well you wrote your introduction with a feeling.
It would sound better you if you compare yourself with your topic using figurative language. You would express yourself more if you use figurative language. For example,We are label like shoes in their box.Or you know a better example i think you could think of a better one but over all is real good.

Jennifer --

My experience tells me there is no escaping labels; at best, we can shape and select the ones put upon us.

Looking at the labels used to identify women would be a great place to begin this blog. What does it mean, emotionally, when someone calls a grown woman a "girl," or when M. Campos sees T. Lawrence calls her "T., baby" instead of her name?

Such a great topic. Dig in.

Jennifer,

i totally agree with you because i also don't like labeling myself because for me i think that it will only create hate and discrimination. i don't know why but that is what i think. for me, it is easier to tell the world what is happening through film. the reason is because i can also put things that other people think. like right now i am doing a documentary about house issues. this film will be submitted to the city to show how bad the conditions of an apartment can be. i was encouraged to do this film because of my mom. she wanted to show the city how bad the conditions were at the apartment so they could do something to change it. people have different ways of expressing themselves, you express it in writing, i express it through the media.
